Empowerment Strategy.
SCEF as an organization that seeks to ensure that vulnerable children have access to quality education sees the need to exit a child after a five year period from the program.
After five years of a child’s existence on a program, it is assumed that the guardian/parent of the child through SCEF’s Life Skills for Sustainable Development Program would have received adequate support through micro finance, business startup, business coaching and financial literacy training.
A parent’s successes in business at the Life Skills for Sustainable Development Program will determine the exit plan for the child. This will be done in consultation with the parent, community service and social services.
However in instances where the family of the child is contacted by SCEF, and after several efforts it is revealed that they are unable to cover the cost of the child’s education during the exit period, then an alternative solution will be sought by SCEF. For instance, the godparent of the child might be contacted to find out if he/she can pay for the cost by increasing his/her contribution on a child.
In instances where the child has no godparent, then a special fundraising activity will be arranged to raise the funds to support him or her.
