Graduate Learning Program
The SCEF Graduate Learning Program is a one-year opportunity for fresh graduates who want to start a journey in the non-profit sector and are based in Accra.
Overview
The SCEF Graduate Learning Program is a one-year opportunity for fresh graduates who want to start a journey in the non-profit sector and are based in Accra. The program aims to provide graduates with practical exposure and hands-on experience in working with street-connected and vulnerable children, as well as developing their skills and knowledge in various aspects of non-profit management, such as fundraising, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and project management. The program is also a platform for graduates to network with other professionals and stakeholders in the non-profit sector, and to contribute to the mission and vision of SCEF, whist they build their potentials and enhance their skill.
Program application process
– Be Ghanaian citizens of 18 years and above
– Have completed their tertiary education within the last two years
– Have a minimum of a second-class lower degree or its equivalent
– Have a passion for working with children and youth
– Have good communication and interpersonal skills
– Be willing to commit to the full duration of the program
– Be living in Accra and its environs
– A monthly stipend from the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) as a subvented institution.
– A certificate of completion from SCEF and NSS upon successful completion of the program.
– A mentorship and coaching program from experienced SCEF staff and external experts
– A chance to participate in various training workshops, seminars, and conferences related to non-profit work.
– A chance to implement a capstone project that addresses a specific challenge or opportunity for SCEF or its beneficiaries
– A chance to join the SCEF alumni network and access future opportunities for career development.
1. Fill out an online application form on the SCEF website
2. Submit a CV and a motivation letter explaining why you want to join the program and what you hope to gain from it.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online aptitude test and an interview with SCEF staff.
4. Successful candidates will be notified and assigned to one of the SCEF projects or departments based on their preferences and qualifications.
5. The program will commence with an orientation session where candidates will meet their mentors, supervisors, and peers.
– The program will run for 12 months, from September 2023 to August 2024
– Candidates will work full-time (40 hours per week) at one of the SCEF projects or departments, such as:
– FAHOWODIE centre
– Sport for Development
– Centre for Grassroot Enterprise
– Zero Waste
– Reading is Basic (RIB) Learning Hub
– Children in Hazardous Work (CHaW)
– Candidates will also participate in regular meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by SCEF or its partners.
– Candidates will have monthly check-ins with their mentors and supervisors to monitor their progress and provide feedback.
– Candidates will work on a capstone project that they will present at the end of the program.
– Gain practical experience and skills in working with street-connected and vulnerable children.
– Develop competencies in various aspects of non-profit management, such as fundraising, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and project management.
– Enhance their professional network and relationships with other stakeholders in the non-profit sector.
– Contribute to the mission and vision of SCEF and its beneficiaries.
– Demonstrate leadership, creativity, and innovation in their capstone project.
