We know that by volunteering / having your practical training with SCEF, you are generously donating your time, skills and efforts. But a volunteer environment is still a workplace, and as such, you have certain responsibilities that must be upheld. And of course, you have rights as well!

Before you start, we believe you have checked that:

 The purpose of SCEF matches your own values and beliefs

 Your role is clear and specific

 SCEF can provide you with written information about its purpose and activities

 You have enquired and are satisfied that the given funds of SCEF are expended in
accordance with its mission.
All volunteers/interns are expected to:

 Dress appropriately; spaghetti strap tops and shorts (women) and slippers are unacceptable as this is a work environment and should be upheld as such. Any comfortable clothes covering your shoulders would be great.

 Respect confidentiality and privacy; you know that SCEF champions social work and therefore information, work done and data on our cases may or may not be revealed to you.

 Be respectful toward all staff and colleagues; it is important to show and speak with respect when addressing others with questions, clarifications or grievances

 Be punctual and reliable

 Carry out the duties listed in your volunteer position description discussed with your
supervisor or if an intern, as listed in your work-plan given by your school.

 Be accountable for all given assignments

 Give notice if your availability changes or you are leaving SCEF

 Report any injuries or hazards that you notice in the workplace

 Adhere to SCEF’s policies and procedures

 Deal with complaints in the appropriate manner, if unresolved you should talk to
the next in line (Supervisor, HR, Executive Director)
