Sustainable Education

The sustainable education program is hosted at our Center for Grassroots Enterprise. This initiative is to empower families of street connected children to become self-reliant. Families of children in street situations are in a better position to cater for their children if they are self-reliant.  The Centre for Grassroots’ Enterprise consists of a three-storey building which includes the Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop, the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport (RCAA) Conference Hall and offices. The Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop is only equipped with very basic items. The shop takes food orders anytime the conference hall is hired.  We are working to stock the shop and make it more active and are hoping to get more support to get it in full operation.

Centre for Grassroots’ Enterprise

SCEF completed work on the expansion of a community service for women and children which was funded by the Embassy of Japan in January 2019. This project was named Centre for Grassroots’ Enterprise after a short commissioned event in April 2019. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also supported us immensely. The project is a three-storey building which include a coffee and retail shop, a conference hall and offices. This initiative is to empower families of street connected children to become self-reliant.

Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop

The Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop is only equipped with very basic items. We are working to equip the shop with all items needed for it to operate. We have one single mother of street connected children who is working at the shop. The shop takes food orders anytime the conference is hired.  We are hoping to get more support to get it in full operation.

Rotary Club of Accra Airport (RCAA) Conference Hall

This conference hall was named after RCAA for their immense support. RCAA furnished the conference hall making it possible for it to be in full operation.

SCEF/Parents’ Association

SCEF initiated quarterly parents meetings to discuss issues of SCEF, parents and their wards. These meetings became necessary because they would help the flow of agreement made between SCEF and parents on their wards. The meetings help parents to follow our exit program and work on all issues concerning their welfare and the progress of work on their respective kids together with SCEF. There were four meetings held in this period.

The data below represents the current sex distribution of parents of scholarship for the period under review.

Yehowa Nyonmo Da Bakery

The Yehowa Nyonmo Da Bakery bakes bread for our activities and events with support from our Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop.

Urban Savings and Loans (USLA)

SCEF has an urban savings and loans program which helps families of children in street situations to inculcate the habit of saving. The members are able to save and also access loans when the need arises.
