A Decade of Empowering Vulnerable Lives
The Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on March 28-April 3, 2020 in Accra. |
However, SCEF cannot do this alone; in view of this we are marking our 10th anniversary with three days full of memorable moments. The 10th anniversary is a three-day event with four different activities throughout March 28th, April 1st, and April 3rd, 2020
Whilst celebrating our 10th anniversary, we will be joining the world to mark the International Day for Street Children and are hoping to get all hands on deck to press for the right to education and childhood
Starting off the various events, we will gather at Ussher Fort Boxing Arena on the 28th of March for a Night of Arts, Culture & Amateur Boxing. SCEF, working in the James Town community for the past decade, has seen the need to unveil the great talent within this community in a grand style with our 10th anniversary
On the 1st of April there will be a float and a petition to the three arms of government on the plight of street connected children. Street connected children will lead the float and petition. Route and stop venues are John Wesley Park, Supreme Court, Parliament House, Flag Staff House, and Christ the King.
April 3rd, 2020 marks the final day of SCEF’s 10th anniversary activities, where two events will take place. The first one being the Louder Together Stakeholders’ Forum brings together an active planning committee made up of numerous NGOs working with street connected children. SCEF has been a pioneer in a number of child rights networks to advocate for better lives for children, however, we realized very quickly that our single efforts as an organization cannot fully address the challenge of children in street situations. Therefore, we want to continue to work to place the coalitions within the embryonic philanthropy movements with a dedicated project activity that aims to develop business and celebrity partnerships to help push these partnerships forward
To culminate SCEF’s 10th anniversary festivities we will hold a Fundraising Dinner and Musical Concert at Accra City Hall. Under the theme “Education Is a Human Right: The Lack of Opportunity Is Not a Choice” a number of SCEF’s Partners/Donors, Invited Guests, the SCEF Board of Trustees, SCEF Staff, and SCEF Beneficiaries will be brought together for an unforgettable dinner experience with exquisite musical performances that benefits street connected children.
Throughout these days the Omanye Coffee and Retail Shop will be moved to each celebration site.
Looking back it has been a rocky road, but we never gave up on our vision of achieving sustainable improvements in the lives of street connected children in James Town and will continue to empower vulnerable lives to become universal heroes for many years to come.
